This is the same work we do with the animals in the shelter, and it is the reason they become adoptable. Pulling on the lead, barking at the door, not coming when called, guarding food, fear of strangers, and a dog that has never been taught what is expected of it.
The first session is mostly us watching. What the animal does, when, and what happens immediately before and after. Owners often arrive certain they know the trigger and are wrong about it, which is not a criticism, it is just hard to see from inside the house.
Then we work on it together, and most of the work is yours. We are with the animal for an hour; you are with it the rest of the week. What we teach in a session only sticks if it carries on at home, so we would rather send you away with two things you will actually do than ten you will not.

Common questions
How many sessions will it take?
We will not know until the assessment, and anyone who gives you a number before meeting the animal is guessing. Simple obedience is quick. Fear takes as long as it takes.
Do I need to be there?
Yes, and that is not negotiable. Training the animal without training you produces an animal that behaves for us and not for you.
My dog is aggressive. Will you take it?
Tell us the full history first, including any bite. We will say honestly whether we think we can help. Sometimes the right answer is a referral, and we would rather say so than take your money.
